Summary of Role and Function:
The Bus Bar Machine Operator is responsible for setup and operation of the MC40 and MZ40 machines. Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Timeliness, Reliability and Thoroughness of work performed; develops good working relationships with the supervisor, co-workers and other employees. Develops working knowledge of the fabrication environment and has ability to respond to change. Work to Continuously Improve the operations of the Department through Lean activities and Improvement suggestions.

- Key Duties:
Job duties are the major or most important tasks to be performed by this position. The duties must be clear and specific of the work tasks to be performed and must include the periodic schedule that is required for each task such as continuous, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or on an annual basis.

- Report for work on time, every time.
- Performs all tasks assigned for bus machine setup and operation
- Set up tools in machines according to requirements, adjust as required
- Performs inspection of finished products, and documents results
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
- Completes and maintains paperwork for parts
- Must be able to work independently and meet a planned production schedule
- Effectively and accurately communicate any safety, quality or manufacturing issues to a supervisor in a timely manner
- Maintain production area integrity, cleanliness, and organization according to established standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Key Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities are what this organization uses to define the work that needs to be performed by the position in a role and the functions, or a list of the burdens of obligations, the position is held accountable for that are within the position’s power and authority to control and manage.
- Responsible for operation, proving programs, operating controls, setting all machine functions, deburring and inspection of parts to assure conformance will be required.
- Must be able to work from drawings and sketches, read and understand manuals/specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
- Skilled in organizing work area before and after parts are processed, stacking completed parts properly on carts or pallet to eliminate double handling and work efficiently
- Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to Supervisor.
- Ability to calculate, bar sizes, bend locations, and tooling for each part being formed
- Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- May perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Communicates all production related items to next shift operators or shift supervisors
- Fork lift experience needed.
- Key Qualifications:
There may be a difference between the skills required to get the job and the skills required to perform the job. - Must be able to work independently and meet a planned fabrication schedule;

- Ability to calculate, blank sizes, bend locations, for each part being formed;
- Must be able to work from drawings and sketches, read and understand manuals/specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements;
- Aptitude to pay close attention to detail and perform daily job duties accurately;
- Ability to accurately and completely fill out necessary paperwork according to established standards;
- Able to read both metric and standard tape measures, as well as precision hand tools such as squares, protractors, and calipers;
- Skilled in organizing work area before and after parts are processed, stacking completed parts properly on blocks or pallet to eliminate double handling and work efficiently;
- Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to Supervisor;
- Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues;
- Able to perform basic math in various units of measure using fractions, decimals, and whole units;
- Capability of understanding instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce a quality product;
- Basic computer navigation skills;
- Fork lift experience needed;
- Capable of work standing for long periods of time;
- Bending, lifting and pushing up to 50 pounds is required;
May perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor;
