Electronic Power Design Partners with Texas A&M’s MS Marketing students for High-Impact, Experiential Project
December 2020 – Mays Business School’s Master of Science in Marketing (MS Marketing) program offers experiential, data-driven, and career-focused opportunities in one year – and benefitted EPD with outside perspective.
Electronic Power Design (EPD) is a company that takes pride in providing the best engineered power system solutions possible to our customers. We not only innovate for our current customers, but we are always examining opportunities to provide unique solutions in new markets. Texas A&M’s Mays Business School had a unique way to contribute to accomplishing our goals.
EPD has a long history of hiring Texas A&M graduates, but we found a way to give some Aggies real world experience, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. This past semester, EPD partnered with five Texas A&M MS Marketing students through a capstone project. As we conveyed our business model, the Aggies were able to utilize their marketing expertise to both identify prime industries to enter and advise actionable steps for success. Through collaboration with our team, the students were able to identify nine industries to fully evaluate; moreover, these nine industries were researched through exclusive paid firm reports.
After factoring in decision matrices, sensitivity analyses, market projections, and product compatibility, the EPD team was able to select two industries to enter in 2021. Accordingly, the Aggies provided actionable steps to enter these two markets. Based on their expertise, EPD is taking action towards website optimization, prospect engagement, and customer success reporting. We were able to create action plans for graphic design, content marketing, and social media, as they pertain to these new industries. On top of a digital marketing plan, the masters students were also able to leverage research firm reports for an in-person presentation plan which also includes selected trade shows to attend.
We would like to thank Aashna Prakash, Jessica Lewis, Andrew Foote, Alyson Lippincott and Laura Trevino for all their hard work! Special thanks also go out to Dr. Lisa C. Troy, Clinical Professor of Marketing at Mays Business School and Lisa M. Burton, Director of the MS Marketing Program for their assistance and guidance. It’s great to see college students get to make a real world impact. We at EPD can’t wait to follow up with the results from our new endeavors.
